ABC is Reviving ‘The Muppets’

Bill Prady, co-creator of Big Bang Theory, is co-writing a revival of The Muppets.

If everything goes as planned, this revival will go straight to series on ABC.

Also co-writing alongside Prady is Bob Kushell (Anger Management, 3rd Rock From the Sun). Kushell is also said to be a show runner. Randall Einhorn (Wilfred) will executive produce and direct this project. The revival is being produced by ABC Studios and The Muppets Studios, which are owned by Disney.

There will be a presentation given to Madison Avenue advertisers next weekend for the revival. This presentation is going to be filmed in Burbank on their Disney lot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, some of the original Muppet performers are planning on returning.

The presentation is said to be revolved around the Muppets gathering at ABC Studios to discuss the revival of their show. Interestingly enough, the show will not happen unless Miss Piggy signs on, and her current on and off relationship with Kermit is preventing the forward movement of the project.

Premiere dates will depend on if the presentation next weekend is successful. If all goes well, The Muppets will go straight to series as a new ABC comedy.

Bill Prady is represented by Rothman Brecher and Lichter Grossman, Bob Kushell is with ICM Partners and Randall Einhorn is with WME, Odenkirk Provissiero and Bloom Hergott.
