A Journey of Love and Survival: AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’ Release Date Announced

The Ones Who Live is another spinoff from the popular apocalyptic series The Walking Dead; we are experiencing the perspective of both Rick, played by Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually), and Michonne, played by Danai Gurira (Black Panther), as they are separated from the events. AMC just announced the limited series’ premiere date via their Instagram account. The new show will arrive on February 25, 2024. A behind-the-scenes sneak peek accompanied the announcement. In the video above, Lincoln and Gurira give honest insight about the upcoming series and how their characters feel.  In The Ones Who Live, they will encounter new allies and enemies and be forced to confront the challenges of survival in a world that is even more dangerous than they ever imagined. Set several years after Rick’s disappearance, the show will explore how the characters have changed in the intervening time. The series will also highlight how the walkers have slowly evolved, and we are left wondering how the current ones in the upcoming show have changed. 

The series was originally pitched as a three-film event starring Lincoln set for theatrical release. However, amidst COVID those plans were scratched as the new limited series was announced at New York Comic Con in 2022.

Fans of the original series are sure to be ecstatic about the news of the spin-off and to see how the two beloved characters will traverse the world and reunited with one another. The series will be Rick and Michonne’s journey will undoubtedly resonate with fans, reminding them that even in the darkest of times, love can find a way to shine through.
