’12 Monkeys’ Adaptation Ordered To Do Pilot For Syfy

Syfy is ordered a pilot on Monday for the “12 Monkeys” adaptation that developed a month ago after the NBCUniversal-owned cable network intially considered to take it straight-to-series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In correlation with the original film, which starred Bruce Willis as James Cole, the series will be centered on “a man from post-apocalyptic future who time travels to the present day to attempt to find the source of the deadly virus that wipes out most of humanity,” according to Indiewire.

Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, feature film producers of Atlas Entertainment, turned in the pitch and will executive produce the hourlong pilot. Terry Matalas (Nikita, Terra Nova, Star Trek: Enterprise) and Travis Fickett (Nikita, Terra Nova) will write the script for the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“We have a great pilot. We’re now flushing out what the rest of the series might be,” said Syfy president of original programming Mark Stern.

Production will start in November.
