As reported by Deadline, Angela Sarafyan (Westworld, Paranoia, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn), best known for her role in HBO’s Westworld, is set to star in Prime Video’s upcoming thriller, El Gato. The news, according to Deadline, has already stirred excitement among fans and industry insiders.
El Gato follows the story of a cat burglar entangled in a high-stakes conspiracy. As mentioned by Deadline, Sarafyan will play Elisa Kazanjian, a stoic CIA agent who was involved in a horrific tragedy in Afghanistan ten years ago while serving in the armed forces. She was dispassionate and icy after the horrific experience but still competent. She is currently working with the “Company” in Mexico City to investigate the criminal history of billionaire agricultural tycoon Gabriel Guerrero.
As mentioned by Deadline, the show was created by Eric Carrasco (Supergirl, Foundation, Justice League Action Shorts), who will co-show run it alongside Turi Meyer (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Smallville, Witches Of East End) and Alfredo Septién (Stargirl, Smallville, Midnight, Texas). Apart from Carrasco, the series is co-executive produced by Kai Dolbashian (DUI, The Consultant, Attack Of The Fifty Foot Women) and Marilu G. Carranza (El Gato).
The series is part of Prime Video’s growing portfolio of original content, aiming to compete with other major streaming platforms by delivering high-quality, engaging stories. Sarafryan’s inclusion in El Gato is expected to attract a broad audience, leveraging her existing audience from Westworld.
According to Deadline, El Gato is set to commence production later this year, with a release date anticipated in mid-2025. The series’ creators have expressed enthusiasm about Sarafyan’s involvement, highlighting her ability to bring nuance and intensity to her roles. Make sure you stay tuned and ready for more updates on El Gato as the production progresses and more details about the plot and additional cast members come to light.
