A fan-favorite television duo is reuniting. According to Deadline, The Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries, Love Hard) and Paul Wesley (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Tell Me a Story) have signed on to star in Hulu’s upcoming drama You Deserve to Know.
The project, which has landed at Hulu for development following a competitive bidding process, is based on Aggie Blum Thompson’s 2025 novel of the same name. Deadline notes Brian Tanen (Grand Hotel, Love, Victor) is writing the adaptation, while Alex Cooper’s Unwell and Aaron Kaplan‘s Kapital Entertainment are producing alongside 20th Television.
The mystery drama follows three suburban couples who are next-door neighbors and close friends. Their lives are turned upside down after one of the husbands is murdered, setting off a chain of revelations that expose long-hidden secrets and fracture the relationships between the families.
Dobrev and Wesley will play Gwen and Scott, two neighbors who find themselves on opposite sides of the murder investigation. In addition to starring, both actors will serve as executive producers on the project alongside Tanen, Thompson, Cooper, Matt Kaplan, Mina Lefevre, Aaron Kaplan, and several members of the Unwell and Kapital Entertainment teams.
The series marks the first on-screen reunion between Dobrev and Wesley since The Vampire Diaries. The pair portrayed Elena Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore for the first six seasons of the CW drama before Dobrev returned for the series finale. Their relationship became one of the defining storylines of the series and helped establish one of television’s best-known love triangles.
Deadline notes that Aaron Kaplan has previously worked with both stars separately. Dobrev led Kapital Entertainment’s CBS comedy Fam, while Wesley starred in the company’s thriller Tell Me a Story for CBS All Access.
The new series also continues a busy stretch for both actors. With a compelling mystery at its center and the reunion of two familiar television stars, You Deserve to Know is shaping up to be one of Hulu’s most anticipated drama projects currently in development.
