Disney Plus’s original series The Mandalorian ,season three episode four entitled “The Foundling,” kicks off with Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin as he helps the rest of his people find a kidnaped child from a giant creature. This is due to it flying down and taking a child to its nest to feed its hatchlings. The interesting part about this is how the viewer gets a look at how a Mandalorian trains. Not to mention the series shows how they rise in rank from a foundling to a true Mandalorian. As a bonus, the viewer sees David Acord’s Grogu as he gets another piece of armor furthering his path as a future Mandalorian warrior.
Additionally, the viewer sees Grogu have a flashback to when he was rescued during order 66. It is still clear that he has trauma from the events of his past. It can be assumed by the viewer that the reason he is slow to develop his abilities is a result of him blocking out his training from that time. Meanwhile, the viewer gets another interesting insight into the customs of the Mandalorian people. This is demonstrated by how during the search and rescue party Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze learns that they eat away from each other. This is due to the rule that they cannot show their faces to anyone. This shows just how seriously they take their customs and how far they will go to keep to the code.
At the end of the episode, Bo-Katan helps rescue the foundling and in return gets a new piece of armor. In her mind, she still wonders what seeing the mythosaur means as she tries to come to terms with being the only one to see it. However, taking the words of the armorer into account she sees it as a sign. Deep down she does not believe in any of the ways of Din’s people as she has different beliefs. Surprisingly, it would appear that she is starting to believe as she finds that being of the few who saw a mythosaur is a great sign. One that she finds to be of great inspiration to her.
