Previously on the Disney+ series X-Men ‘97, the X-Men continue trying to work together with Magneto to help En Sabah Nur. Things immediately take a turn for the worse when En Sabah Nur learns his destiny and ends up killing innocent people, along with Magneto.
We begin right where Logan kept his word to Black Widow and Captain America— putting a team together. He brings together Morph, Yuriko, Sabertooth, Kane, and Maverick to take down Dr. Cornelius and his lethal Weapon X.
This episode feels and looks a bit different than the others so far in season 2. While the majority of this season has focused on X-Force and the X-Men as a whole, this episode takes a turn in a different direction, focusing on Logan and his old friends.

Wolverine recruits this team to track down Cornelius and Weapon X, the very man who plagued Logan and his former comrades with their heightened arsenal. However, the mission goes terribly wrong when they discover an alien experiment has broken loose and infects Wolverine, making him the apex predator.
They realize that to save Wolverine, they must reinject him with adamantium — the goal of the mission all along. Despite a showdown with Omega Red, the team is triumphant. But the level of trust has been tainted, especially between Morph and Logan.
The biggest theme in this episode is trust. Each of these characters has a long and messy history with Logan. The six of them are forced to rely on one another, and the episode does a fantastic job of illustrating how challenging that trust can be.
With Logan working with everyone, it’s clear he trusts them enough to have even brought them along for the mission. Not only that, but there’s a scene where Morph has hope that there’s goodness in Logan and begs the team to trust him, to trust Logan. There are also moments throughout this episode where we see the team has disagreements but end up trusting each other with their choices. The narratives that come from X-Men ‘97 consistently return to the idea that survival depends on togetherness, even when tensions escalate.

There is a lot of action as well. Logan remains the centerpiece, but every member of the team is given moments to shine. Everybody has a skill to contribute, and it’s clear that they all take pleasure in battling because they are aware of each other’s potential. With that also comes helping each other during battle, their skills combining creatively.
Overall, this was a really good episode. As mentioned before, different from the others, but it was well written. J.P. Karliak as Morph did an impeccable job, making his character stand out between the humorous and serious moments, along with the cool shapeshifting we saw from him. This episode was enjoyable, and it’s exciting to see what comes next.
