Episode one starts with a golf tournament WH Rawlings Tire Invitational Tour. We then see Henry the caddy and Lonnie hurrying in a bus to get to the tour that they are nearly late to. They make it just as his name is being called and begin.
After talking about food, Lonnie gets his swing and continues to do well until he hits the ball in the sand trap. He manages to get it out, but Henry suddenly collapses, dying right there on the field. He is then told by Carlos that he has to withdraw because his caddy died. Lonnie then calls his son Lance to tell him that Henry died and asks if he wants to spend a little time together, though he doesn’t immediately go for it.
After talking with some people outside a Walmart, he goes inside to shop for some goods, and even buys a promotional cutout of Golden Fisk. While in the bathroom, he gets a call from Stacy, who is pissed off at Lonnie for maxing out a card for satellite for the bus. After more arguing, we see Lonnie back on the turf (mini golf turf) with his son.
After a quick match that displays Lance might be a better golfer than Lonnie, the two sit down. Lance asks why Lonnie is still driving the old tour bus around, and Lonnie tells him it’s because he’s chasing the career Grand Slam. Lance lets him know he hasn’t won shit, and suggests he just retire. After some more odd conversation, Lonnie practices his swing in the night on the Golden Fisk cutout.
He then watches his son at the WM Phoenix Open tour and begrudgingly listens to the way the announcers speak about him. One of the announcers then puts out a what if scenario. What if Lonnie won three Korn Ferry Events, got back on the PGA Tour and won that US Open. This gives Lonnie the inspiration and drive to try to become the best golfer once again. He then asks the lady Sam from Walmart if she wants to be his caddy for the tour, and she accepts.
So far, the show is ok. It’s not bad, it’s not the greatest, but it’s alright. It definitely does make you want to continue watching a little to see what happens. One of the parts during the beginning with the WH Rawling Tour was a little weird, but whatever.
