Previously on Prime’s Sterling Point, Ramona discovers that she and the island’s newest visitor, Annie, are sisters. After they talk, Ramona lets Alice stay at the cottage.
The episode begins with Annie helping Ramona around the house by donating a box of Gordon’s belongings to the mainland. Later, Ramona finds Annie listening to a cassette tape from the box: a recording of Goldie talking. Ramona gets upset with Annie for keeping the tape without her knowledge. Annie finds that the tape has Goldie and Gordon talking, and Goldie made the tape for Joe.
Annie goes over to Ellis’ to talk to his dad, Joe, about her mom. She brings up the cassette tape, but he doesn’t remember it. Joe tells her that he doesn’t remember much about Goldie wanting to go to New York because they lost touch over those years. Annie lets Joe keep the tape just as Ellis comes home. Annie tells Ellis that his dad and her mom dated in high school.
Ramona visits Oona’s to talk. Oona tells her she feels there’s a sign as to why Annie is now in their lives, saying there might be something special between Annie and Ramona. In the morning, Ramona comes home, and Annie apologizes about the tape. Ramona says she was just shocked and that it was weird to hear Gordon’s voice.
Annie’s dad, Steven, calls Oliver, Annie’s ex-boyfriend, and asks where Annie is. Oliver tells him the truth, saying that he doesn’t know where she is. After the phone call, Steven confronts Connor, and he tells the truth. Steven decides to book a flight to Canada, but Connor convinces him to let him go instead and talk to Annie for him.
Annie hosts a party for Ramona, but she hides out in her room. When Sully gets to the house, he bursts into Ramona’s room to convince her to come downstairs. Ramona comes downstairs and finds Oona has brought a date.
While Ellis fixes an old lamp that was Goldie’s to give Annie as a gift, Joe tells his son to be careful because “they always leave in the summer.” His comment is toward Annie and Goldie.
Ramona goes outside for a smoke, and Oona follows. She realizes that Ramona’s jealous of her and Stacey. The two of them almost kiss, until Stacey yells for Oona to come back inside.
Annie shows Rory around the porch. While she’s making an awkward fool of herself, Rory kisses her. Ellis sees them as he walks up to the porch and chooses to leave after leaving the lamp on the steps.
Once the party is over, Annie and Ramona are getting ready for bed. The two talk about Oona and Rory. Annie tells Ramona about the kiss, while Ramona tells her about the almost kiss. Ramona asks if Annie wants to sleep in her room for the night, and they decide to sleep together. As they’re talking, Connor randomly pops in out of nowhere, freaking the girls out. Casually introducing himself to Ramona, Connor slips and tells them that all three of them own the island. Annie yells at her brother, saying they aren’t selling the place.
A theme that stands out in this episode is trust. It’s clear that Ramona and Annie are beginning to build trust around each other, opening up more. After the cassette moment, Ramona takes the time to talk about the reason for her reaction toward Annie, and that moment shows that they’re taking the time to allow themselves to learn more about each other and express their emotions.
Overall, this was a pretty good episode. It’s nice to see Ramona and Annie beginning to build a sisterhood, even if it’s still awkward for them right now. Ella Rubin and Amélie Hoeferle did a great job as Annie and Ramona in this episode. Jeffrey Dean Morgan did a wonderful job as well, as we get to slowly pick some pieces apart about Joe and Goldie’s relationship. Now that Connor is there, only more drama and secrets are to come.
