Adults has yet to receive season three renewal, but Malik Elassal (Resident Orca, Adults) already has an idea for a future guest star. According to Deadline, Elassal stars as Samir in the FX comedy and wants New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to make a cameo if the series returns for another season.
Deadline notes that during a video filmed atop the Empire State Building, Elassal suggested that Mamdani could easily fit into the Queens-set comedy. The actor noted Mamdani’s connection to Queens and imagined him crossing paths with the show’s group of friends while campaigning.
“Dude, let’s get Zohran on the show,” Elassal said, adding that the cast already has connections that could potentially help make the appearance happen, Elassal even pitched how the cameo could play out. Mamdani could appear while campaigning before Anton invites him inside to spend the night with the group.
Adults follows five friends in their twenties as they attempt to figure out adulthood while living together in New York City. The group shares Samir’s family home in Queens, which he currently has to himself.
Alongside Elassal, the main cast includes Lucy Freyer (Paint, The Buccaneers), Owen Thiele (Theater Camp, Overcompensating), Amita Rao (The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, Fairfax) and Jack Innanen (The Dessert, Big Mistakes).
The series has already welcomed several guest stars. Season two includes appearances from Raven-Symoné (That’s So Raven, The Cheetah Girls), Zosia Mamet (Girls, The Flight Attendant), Gaten Matarazzo (Stranger Things, Honor Society), Isaac Cole Powell (American Horror Story, Dear Evan Hansen), Ben Marshall (Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain, Saturday Night Live) and Jake Shane (Hacks, Mr. Throwback). Julia Fox (Uncut Gems, Presence) also returns after appearing in season one.
As mxdwn previously covered, season two ended with major changes for the roommates that could shape a possible third season. The reveal was focused on the roommates’ new relationships heading into season three.
That earlier coverage also highlighted comments from co-creators Ben Kronengold (Adults, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) and Rebecca Shaw (Adults, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) about the uncertain future of those relationships. Rather than resolving everything in the finale, the ending leaves the characters with new questions that could become part of the story if the comedy returns.
