Episode three in the new season of Invincible showcases a short story of two superhumans and their journey to becoming supervillains. These two unnamed characters struggle financially. The couple lost their jobs and then their apartment, ultimately leading them to become homeless. Out of desperation, they decide to rob a bank. While this plan could have worked for them, unfortunately, they were met with Invincible, who ruined their plans.
This situation mirrors Cecil’s idea that superhumans can be reformed, just as he saw while he was detained when he was younger. Not all people are ultimately bad; many poor choices are due to situational choices that lead many to a dark path. With this in mind, Cecil continues to reform villains despite Mark’s objection.
Not only does Mark have to arrest the two unnamed villains, but Oliver also tries to get in on the action by jumping into the fight. Now that Oliver has his powers, Mark has to deal with managing him as his powers are developing at a rapid rate.
As the Ex-guardians continue to regroup after their split from Cecil, Rex, and Shrinking Rae grow close. They bond over their similar near-death experiences and begin to relate to each other as neither has lived an everyday life. While Rex was sold to be tested on, Shrinking Rae revealed that she had been serving her community ever since she was small.
While the two unnamed villains are imprisoned, Multi-Paul waits patiently in his cell. Mister Liu, Multi-Paul’s boss, demands Titan to break him out of prison. Titan explains that he’s achieved peace and wants nothing to do with Liu’s international crime syndicate.
Meanwhile, The Mauler twins briefly return in this episode as they break into a nuclear plant. The Guardians arrive at the scene, though the twins notice the team is much smaller than before. Mark is then notified that The Guardians failed and are captured by the Mauler twins. Despite separating from Cecil, Mark decides to go to their rescue.
While Mark has fought the Mauler twins multiple times, he struggles along with the other Guardians. To make matters worse Oliver shows up and uses his new powers in this scene.
While Oliver continues to develop as a superbeing child, Mark keeps a close eye on him. Despite being an adolescent, Oliver has powers almost equal to Mark. Despite being his brother, Mark is weary of Oliver’s idea of justice and responsibility. At the same time, it is revealed that Angstrom Levy is alive and is spying on Mark’s family.
Meanwhile, audiences can expect to see more of Titan and Lui’s subplot, as Lui is unsatisfied with Titan’s refusal. While Mark is busy with his Earth affairs, Nolan and Allen are still stuck in space. Hopefully, audiences can see more development in Allen’s attempt to build an army against the Viltrumites, as it’s anticipated that they will eventually arrive on Earth to conquer it.
