Episode 2 begins on Roses farm, when Bob’s men ambush the place and start blasting and burning the place. Rose survives the onslaught by hiding in a pig carcass along with one of her members, Freddie.
Flash forward, a scientist is experimenting on animals when Jiro appears and kidnaps him to bring him to Rose. He then hands her a briefcase from the scientist, Dr. Verhoven, which contains mother, a food product capable of absorbing the properties of any product it touches. She then cooks Jiro a meal to show the capabilities of the product.
With mother, she’ll be able to cook anything on Bob’s menu without having to kill any animals. While Freddie is satisfied with the product, Jiro looks at the dish with more hesitation, refusing to eat it because it’s missing the magic. Rose acknowledges that he’s a purist, but says that sometimes you have to get your hands dirty, and tells him about the LA feast fest. Everyone including Mayor Sneed, Alistair the critic, and Bob will be there, so she tasks Jiro with working with Freddie in order to ensure that the Mother delivery makes it to the fest, and ensure Bob doesn’t sabotage.
The next day, Freddie and Jiro start the drive to make the delivery, when suddenly many food trucks start coming after them, after all of the food truck vendors are given a bounty for Freddie and Jiro at the fest by Bob’s men. After Jiro manages to kill most of them, they drive off the road and smash through the roof of a building, where they make their escape and successfully bring the mother product to the fest, though Freddie is injured.
Rose then shares mother with all of the festival goers, where it becomes a big hit with everyone. After talking with Alistair about the benefits of mother, Rose starts to get sick, and pukes, and everyone else follows suit. Rose confronts Bob, who admits to tainting the supply of mother, with the help of Jiro. Jiro then takes a food truck and gives it to Pam and her sister, the owners of the restaurant that was burned down, and we see Rose visiting Freddie in the hospital, who tells her to get Jiro.
This episode wasn’t bad either. It still felt kind of silly, but again, in a fun way with the bloody fun aspect to it (Jiro jabs and scoops a guy’s eye out with an ice cream spoon). Didn’t fully expect the twist at the end, but it wasn’t that hard to see coming if you think about it. This is especially because he said that mother was missing the magic, meaning he didn’t like it, and that he had the wall where both Bob and Rose were pictured on it, which likely means he is going to probably kill them both at some point (we’ll see though). Overall though, the episode was still a fun little watch.
