Review: ‘Big Mistakes’ Season 1, Episode 2 “I Will Do ANYTHING To Survive”

Our next episode starts with Morgan and Nicky being driven to a place by Yusuf the clerk while they argue. Once they arrive, Yusef explains to the two that the necklace was for someone important, and threatens them to get the necklace from their grandma.

After half explaining the situation to their mother, and a back and forth between Nicky and Morgan, Morgan goes off on her own to try and fix the situation they’re in. Nicky then goes to ask his father if the criminals can find out if cops were contacted. His father explains that it’s usually for high-end crimes, not for his mugging. He also lets Nicky know that his mother wants an investigation to be opened, believing he may have been targeted as a hate crime.

When Morgan tries to leave, her fiancé Max tries to come with her, and tells her she is acting distant, and suspicious lately, even accusing her of possibly having an affair. To avoid him potentially getting involved, she lies, and says that she was having an affair, causing him to angrily storm off.

After Morgan gets the supplies, she convinces the guard to let her into the cemetery to “see her grandma.” Nicky convinces his mother to relax about Morgan, and heads to the cemetery to try and help her finish digging up their grandma. After having a moment, Nicky lets her know that she’s actually been digging up the grave of Alan Botkins for two hours.

This episode was also not too bad. It had some more funny parts in it than the last one. The ending was again kind of abrupt, maybe a bit more than the last one, but still they’ve both felt a bit quick. Nicky is basically critiquing Morgan about digging up a random guy for two hours, and the tools she brought, before it cuts to the credits out of nowhere.  Maybe this is the style that the show is going for. It’s not like it’s bad or terrible, but it definitely catches you off-guard a bit, because you might expect some more dialogue or one more scene, but then it just ends. Besides this, the show is still good so far and does still bring interest in continuing.

Zach Zucconi: I am a 20-year-old from New Jersey. I graduated with an Associate's of the Arts and recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Communications. I have taken part in the university television station where I was able to act in a show and work behind the scenes. I also have hosted a radio show and have been able to learn the mechanical workings on how the radio shows operate. I have always been interested in different video games growing up and have recently become more interested in movies, film, radio, and screenplay. I have created many characters and have many ideas for different movies, video games, and shows. Besides creating the characters and stories, I believe I would also like to take part in them as well.
