‘Obi-Wan’ Season 1 Episode 6 “Part 6”

Disney Plus’s Original Series Obi-Wan Kenobi season one episode six “Part 6” starts with Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi giving himself up in order for the people that helped him and Vivien Blair’s young Leia Skywalker to stay safe from the empire this is due to all of them being associated with a Jedi who are the most hunted individuals in the galaxy. In his mind, he knows that everyone that helped him is in great danger should the empire get their hands on them. Unfortunately, he also knows that there is only one way to save them all from harm and that leads to him heading off to a nearby planet knowing Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader will follow him as a result of his obsession with Obi-Wan. In his mind, nothing is more important than getting Obi-Wan which is why he lets the people that helped him go as his focus is on Obi-Wan. He knows that he is extremely close to finally getting the payback that he has spent years fantasying about. Only this time he will not let anyone get in his way as this is a score to settle with his old master.

Additionally, the viewer sees Moses Ingram’s Reva Sevander as she looks to find Vader’s son that way, she can kill him out of revenge for the loss of her friends when she was a youngling. The interesting part is that ironically, she is doing the exact same thing Vader did to her when she was young as well. Not to mention that Vader’s son had nothing to do with that Vader did to her. In her mind, she knows that the child is completely innocent in what happened to her. The only reason she is trying to kill him is due to her reasoning being if I cannot you then I will take something from you just like you did to me. Deep down she knows what she is doing is not right especially with how she is getting flash back to how she felt when Vader was killing her friends during the genocide of the Jedi order. However, due to her original plan of killing Vader did not work she feels a need to settle of the consolation prize in killing his son despite her dislike of doing it.

Later into the episode, the viewer sees Obi-Wan, and Darth Vader finally have their long awaited. Durig this the viewer can see by how they fight that Obi-Wan still is holding back due to him not being over what happened between as he sees that everything is his fault. He still blames himself for not being the teacher that Darth Vader needed during the times when they were friends. Also, the viewer can see by how Vader fights and grunts that he is attacking Obi-Wan with pure rage with nothing held back. However, as Obi-Wan is being slowly crushed by the rubble due to Darth Vader using the force to crush him he finally lets go and regains his full power. All of this ends with Obi-Wan defeating Darth Vader and slicing a part of his helmet off revealing what is left of his old friend. From here the viewer can see that it hurts Obi-Wan deeply to see the horribly disfigured shadow of his former friend to the point of tears. As a result of this Obi-Wan apologizes to Darth Vader for everything that has happened to the both of them. In the most heart wrenching moment of the series Darth Vader for a moment returns to being the friend Obi-Wan knew to say that it was not his fault while he sheds a tear. In his mind, he knows that it really was not his fault that everything happened the way it did. That is why in his own way he lets Obi-Wan know he forgives him for everything that happened. Unfortunately, now that they are done with the past Darth Vader can now focus on killing Obi-Wan as there is nothing left between them anymore.

At the end of the episode, Obi-Wan leaves Darth Vader alone due to him being defeated as he now is free from his past and chooses to move forward in his life which means that he must go help protect Vader’s son. Unfortunately, Reva manages to find him as his uncle and aunt try to fight her off long enough for him to get to safety. Soon after, as she sees him lying helpless, she gets another flash back only now the roles are reversed. This leads to her not being able to kill Vader’s son as a result of her not wanting to become like him. In her mind, she cannot bring herself to kill him due to how she sees herself in Vader’s son as he had nothing to do with anything just like she was innocent. Which is why she returns him to his uncle and aunt and decides to live a better life to honor her friends. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan is now able to have a closer relationship with Vader’s son and his sister Leia leading to his ultimate reward with being able to see his old master due to him finding peace.
