The second episode begins with Barry imagining his younger self. He runs to his parents because he is broken and struggling with his current circumstances. Barry liked to play Army as a kid. This connects to his time in the military as an adult. Barry’s military time was another situation that damaged Barry’s physic, it made him not try to find normal work but continue using his military training to be a hitman for the mob. Monroe Fuches is still talking to the detectives, telling them he will not turn on his friend Barry. This shows that Barry at least has someone truly looking out for him on the inside and if something truly damaging were to happen to Barry in future events Monroe Fuches would have his back.
Monroe Fuches however cannot work on his own he needs a reliable small syndicate. At the dining Fuches makes a speech to some inmates. It is physiological manipulation as he tells them he has a way out and they can join him and Barry if they work for him. Fuches is the brains of the operation using the power of promises and dreams to have the other inmates follow along with him. He gives them all “nicknames”: Live Wire, Jason and The Raven. Monroe Fuches talks to Barry about his attorney, Gale Winograde. This is an important person that Barry needs to make a good impression as he has both power on the inside and outside.
Cristobal talks to Hank’s lover about making a meeting. They go to Dave and Buster to have the meeting as he “describes the happiest place on earth”. Hank and Cristobal give a speech together to show unity. That the bloodshed must stop. Then getting organized with the other gangs could play to their advantage if they are to go back to Los Angeles. This equality is needed as they need to stop the fighting if they are to run a successful operation of selling sand instead of drugs. Predicting that the sand operation will be used to smuggle items to the states. There’s always an alternative motive to Hank and Cristobal’s schemes.
Hank disappoints Cristobal by interrupting his meeting talking about breaking Barry out of jail. The reason this is straining on their relationship is because Cristobal feels Hank has some feelings for Barry in a deep way. This could interfere with Cristobal’s operation because Hank could be a liability if he does not get his head in the game.
Barry talks to Sally. She asks about his dog Muffin. Barry more than likely killed Muffin. She didn’t come here for Barry, saying he didn’t lie to her because he admits he’s a loser. He owns up to what he is and never meant to hurt Sally in the process. Sally lets her guard down admitting that she feels safe with Barry because he saw the real her and didn’t treat her like a child or ignore her. Like how Sallys mother does.
Gene Cousineau talks to his attorney telling his life story about his time with Barry as his past student. Mr Cousineau tells his story using manipulation and the skill of acting to make everything appear more dramatic. It is a way to make himself appear more like a victim Infront of a man that holds his life in his hands.
Monroe Fuches talks to Gale Winograde as he needs him to help him prove Barry’s innocence. Barry talks about selling out his old gangs in order to get out. This gets out to Hank that Barry is talking to the police, and he betrays Hank and Fuches by telling them everything he knows. Hank takes action making a new plan to kill Barry instead of recusing him.
