Zachary Hart Cast In Netflix ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Adaptation

Zachary Hart will feature in Netflix‘s upcoming adaptation of the Assassin’s Creed video game franchise, Deadline reports. He will join Toby Wallace (The Royal Hotel, The Bikeriders) and Lola Petticrew (Say Nothing, She Said), who headline the series, which is currently in pre-production.

Assassin’s Creed is a historical action-adventure series of video games centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will, according to a synopsis provided by Deadline. The series features several defining moments in history across the world where its characters, belonging either to the freedom-loving Order of Assassins or the deterministic and domineering Knights Templar, battle against each other to shape the future of humanity.

Like Wallace and Petticrew, Hart’s role in the adaptation has not yet been made public, according to Deadline. Filming is expected to begin in 2026 on location in Italy, where the series is set, though the time period is not yet known.

The show was announced in 2020 as part of a deal between Netflix and Ubisoft that also hinted at the possibility of an animated and an anime series based on the franchise, which are reportedly in the works.

Showrunning the live action series are Roberto Patino (Zero Day, DMZ) and David Wiener (Halo, Brave New World), who executive produce with Gerard Guillemot (Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, Mythic Quest), Margaret Boykin (Side Quest, Werewolves Within), Austin Dill (Pachinko, Invasion), Genevieve Jones (Mythic Quest, Side Quest), and Matt O’Toole (The Witcher, Hellboy), per Deadline.

First released in 2007, Assassin’s Creed is one of the most successful video games in history with over 230 million copies sold, per Deadline, spawning a film adaptation in 2016 directed by Justin Kurzel (The Order, Nitram) and starring Michael Fassbender (Black Bag, Prometheus).

According to Deadline, Hart, a British actor and musician, has made recent appearances in the theater, starring as Reg in the West End production of the Tony-winning Stereophonic, and playing Medvedenko in the Barbican Theatre production of The Seagull.

He has also featured on numerous television series such as Slow HorsesMasters of the AirThe Witcher: Blood OriginPeaky Blinders, and Doc Martin, per Deadline.
