Zach Braff to Star Alongside Gabrielle Union in ‘Cheaper by the Dozen’ Reimagining for Disney+

Zach Braff (ScrubsGarden State) will star alongside Gabrielle Union (Bring It On, Think Like a Man) in a reimagining of the Cheaper by the Dozen, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Black-ish creator producer Kenya Barris, who co-wrote the script for the new series, will be producing the new series with director Gail Lerner, who also served as writer-executive producer and director on Black-ish.

This new iteration of the story will center on “a multiracial, blended family of 12, navigating a hectic home life while managing their family business,” according to Deadline. Union will star as the mother, and Braff will play the father in the new series. Union will also executive produce with Shawn Levy, who directed the original 2003 film.

The Cheaper by the Dozen movies, which both starred Steve Martin (Roxanne, L.A. Story) and Bonnie Hunt (Jumanji, The Green Mile), were based on a pair of films from the 1950s, which themselves were based on books written by a brother-sister duo about their upbringing.

The new series is expected to be made available on Disney+ on an unannounced date in 2022, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
