Alan Chikin Chow, a YouTube Shorts creator who has almost 100 million subscribers, is heading to Netflix with a scripted series n the world of K-pop, according to Deadline. The name of the show is unnamed yet, highly anticipated.

According to Deadline, Chow’s Netflix series will follow a group of aspiring pop idols from an art academy that come together to form a band. Chow will produce and star in the show and it will feature its own original music. James Shin, President of Film and Television, Hybe America and Jingu Jang, Hybe America AU President and former VP of BigHit Music will also play a big part in helping out in production.
Deadline lists Chow had started his acting career as side characters in Grey’s Anatomy and 13 Reasons Why before he made his own YouTube channel called Alan’s Universe. The channel was huge with kids between seven and 14 and gains over a billion views a month. Later, he signed with a studio in July 2024 in Burbank to increase production.

Deadline reports that Netflix has been poaching high YouTube subscriber-counted channels like Ms. Rachel (Potty Time With Bean, Get Ready For School!), Mark Rober, (Revenge of the Nerd, Crunch Labs), and The Sidemen (The Gift, Christmas Drillings). Netflix is offering better deals and more money than YouTube. Netflix is planning to add shorts to its platform to cater to the audience of the new generation.
