CBS’ Yellowstone sequel series Y: Marshals has gone through a subtle title change by dropping the ‘Y’ in the title and just calling it ‘Marshals.’ According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel series was under a working title and was finalized into Marshals making the ‘Y’ in the title silent.
The series Yellowstone tells the story of the Dutton family who are fiercely protecting their land from encroaching threats such as, land developers, a Native American reservation, and the national park. While this is happening, the family also tackles family dynamics, political intrigue, and the violent realities of preserving their way of life and legacy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Y is stylized as a symbol for the Dutton ranch and the main character Kayce Dutton left Yellowstone to go off and form a group of U.S. Marshalls. The changing of the title could be seen as the series going into a different direction from Yellowstone. It is also important to note that Taylor Sheridan (Landman, Tulsa King) the co-creator of the show will leave Paramount for NBC Universal.
The cast of the series consists of Logan Marshall-Green (And Just Like That…, Carry-On), Gil Birmingham (Poker Face, Walk in the Light), Brecken Merrill (Lifeline, This Is Us), Ash Santos (The Roughneck, Pulse), Luke Grimes (Eddington, Happiness for Beginners), Arielle Kebbel (Love Is a Dog’s Best Friend, Site), Brett Cullen (Safe House, Ransom Canyon), Mo Brings Plenty (Buffalo Daze, Topper), Tatanka Means (Acting Good, Opus), Morgan Lindholm (Leverage: Redemption, Chicago Med), Isabel Deroy-Olson (IT: Welcome to Derry, Under the Bridge), Michael Reagan (The Pitt, You), Gregory Zaragoza (Tulsa King, All Rise), Pamela Beheshti (By His Hand, A Place to Stand), Ala Lindsey (Sage Hen, War), Alireza Mirmontazeri (The Roughneck, The Stranger in My Home), Brett Grant-Grierson (SEAL Team, Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1), and Josh Piper (Wardriver, Y: Marshals).
The sequel series is set to premiere on March 1, 2026.
