‘Yellowstone’ Actress Q’Orianka Kilcher Cleared of All Worker’s Comp Fraud Charges

According to Comicbook.com. Q’Orianka Kilcher, best known for her role as tribal lawyer Angela Blue Thunder on the hit neo-Western drama series, Yellowstone, has been cleared in a worker’s compensation fraud case stemming from her work on the movie, Dora and the Lost City of Gold. Kilcher was faced with two felony counts of worker’s comp fraud after collecting almost $97,000 in disability benefits for shoulder and neck injuries she endured in 2017 during the initial filming stages of Dora and the Lost City of Gold.

Kilcher purportedly sustained her injuries while riding in a production vehicle working on the Dora movie which eventually led her to seek medical assistance due to the severity of her pain. She was ultimately able to qualify for disability insurance for her injuries. Kilcher was able to collect these benefits while actively working on Yellowstone in 2020, something that the California Department of Insurance claimed violated state law.

However, Kilcher and her legal team maintained the star’s innocence, affirming that she never lied to any of her doctors and most importantly, that her doctors all agreed that the intensity of her injuries more than entitled her to the disability benefits. In a public statement addressing her court victory, Kilcher stated, “Today, I am beyond grateful that my case has been dismissed — tomorrow my journey begins to help raise awareness and demand more transparency for worker’s rights within the workers comp system.” As Comicbook.com writes, she also thanked her attorneys Camille Vasquez and Steve Cook, as well as her fans and supporters.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office later added, “Today, the judge dismissed the case against Q’Orianka Kilcher. After the charges were filed, the Workers Compensation Insurance claims adjuster retroactively changed his conclusion regarding her ability to work. We therefore determined that Ms. Kilcher did not commit insurance fraud and advised the court that we were unable to proceed.”
