Everyone’s favorite warrior princess may be coming back to television. Word has spread that Xena: Warrior Princess could get a revival.
Lucy Lawless, who played Xena in the show, tweeted; “Had an interesting call from a chap who wants to re-invigorate the #Xena brand. You guys may have started something.”
The popular show ran for six seasons from 1995-2001. Even though the show ended with Xena’s death and her travelling as a spirit, Huffington Post reports that the characters were revived in a 2007 comic book series.
However, ten minutes later Lawless posted in response to fans’ hopeful inquires; “But there’s a lot of red tape around #XWP so don’t get your knickers in a twist. It may come back in a different form”.
This is further proof that the fans are heard. Lawless seems optimistic that if the fans keep pushing, a Xena revival could become real. It is not far of a stretch, it was the determination of the fans that sparked Joss Whedon’s new show Agents of SHIELD, and fans pushed for a new season of Community.
In 2012 Huffington Post spoke to Lawless about the possibility of a movie or reunion. Unfortunately, there was a glitch with the rights and paperwork that has stalled the progress of a revival. Only time will tell if this will become a reality.
