Xavier Samuel (Send Help, Twilight: Eclipse) has joined the cast of Bishop, Prime Video’s upcoming thriller drama from co-creators Little Marvin and Tony Saltzman. Deadline reports that Samuel will appear as Anthony “Ant” Graves in the series, which is produced by Vertigo and Amazon MGM Studios with Little Marvin serving as showrunner. His casting follows his earlier work on Prime Video’s ‘Tell Me Your Secrets’ Renewed at Amazon’.
The series centers on homicide detective Bishop Graves, played by Joel Kinnaman (The Killing, For All Mankind), whose latest investigation forces him into a dangerous confrontation with a killer targeting San Francisco’s wealthiest residents. Deadline notes that Bishop, described as brilliant yet deeply scarred, becomes convinced the murders may be connected to his father, Lincoln Graves, portrayed by John Malkovich (Billions, The New Pope). Kinnaman’s role continues his streak of character‑driven dramas, following his work highlighted in ‘For All Mankind’ Season Update’.
As the case escalates, the killer’s actions begin to resonate with the city’s powerless communities, creating a divide Bishop must navigate while confronting his family’s influence. Deadline adds that the series examines legacy, corruption, and moral conflict as Bishop’s personal and professional lives collide. The show’s thematic focus aligns with other dark, psychological thrillers previously explored in ‘Tell Me Your Secrets’ Renewed at Amazon.
The ensemble cast also includes Jennifer Jason Leigh (Atypical, The Hateful Eight) as Jillian Graves, Lincoln’s sister and Bishop’s aunt. Jordana Brewster (Fast Five, Lethal Weapon) appears as Kat Claiborne, a seasoned inspector within the San Francisco Police Department, while Harry Treadaway (Penny Dreadful, Mr. Mercedes) plays Wyatt. Deadline confirms that Samuel’s addition deepens the Graves family dynamic and expands the show’s emotional stakes, especially given Treadaway’s past genre work featured in ‘Penny Dreadful’ Retrospective.
Samuel’s recent work includes AMC’s The Last Anniversary, Disney+’s The Stolen Girl, and Netflix’s Apple Cider Vinegar. Deadline also highlights his additional credits in Blonde, The Clearing, Elvis, Tell Me Your Secrets, and Love and Friendship. He is represented by UTA, Entertainment 360, Shanahan Management, and Independent Talent.
Little Marvin and Saltzman executive produce Bishop alongside Roy Lee and Vertigo’s Miri Yoon. Deadline reports that the project stems from Little Marvin’s overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios, with Felicia Fasano serving as casting director.
