The hit new series X-Men ‘97 has been at the top of the streaming charts since it hit platforms this month. Fans and new viewers alike have raved about how well done the show is. This week, Variety reported that the series has officially hit 4 million views in its first five days on Disney+.
X-Men ‘97 is a series following the older X-Men animated series titled X-Men: The Animated Series that aired from 1992-1997. This new continuation has stayed true to the older themes as it plays well into the nostalgia of those who grew up watching it. After its release, it hit a high score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and was followed by major smashing reviews from critics and fans alike.
The new report released by Disney that states the series has reached the high rating of 4 million streams, comes with some other impressive news as well. Variety magazine has reported that according to Disney, X-Men ‘97 is now the streaming platform’s highest-watched season one premiere for an animated, full-length series. Before this, the crown was worn by Marvel’s What If…? which started streaming in 2021.
According to the official logline of the series, X-Men ‘97 follows “a band of mutants use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them; they’re challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.” The series brings the X-Men through hardships and challenges that they have to face after they lose their leader Professor X. The cast includes Ray Chase (Baki), Jennifer Hale (The Powerpuff Girls Movie), Alison Sealy-Smith (Haunting Sarah), Cal Dodd (Spider-Man), JP Karliak (Eden), Lenore Zann (Stage Mother), George Buza (A Christmas Horror Story), AJ Locascio (Dawn of the Croods), Holly Chou (Blue Eye Samurai), Isaac Robinson-Smith (What If…?), Matthew Waterson (Dota: Dragon’s Blood), and Adrian Hough (Home Before Dark).
