The anticipated X-Files revival is still months out but one fan is getting the chance to be in it.
Kumail Nanjiani isn’t just any X-Files fan. Nanjiani hosts a podcast about the show called The X-Files Files. The podcast explores different episodes of the sci-fi series and has guest stars on to go through the crazy cases the show takes on. He’s brought on some of the show’s creators and writers and even Dan Harmon to discuss one of his favorite shows, according to Entertainment Weekly. He even created list of must watch episodes for Vanity Fair.
Nanjiani is also an actor and comedian. He’s best known for his role on Silicon Valley and regularly does stand-up comedy. Now he’s branching out to sci-fi with his part on the X-Files revival. He announced the news on Twitter with a series of tweets about his experience so far.
You can read his tweets below and view the pictures he took on set. What his role will be on the show is still under wraps but his on set photos reveal he is wearing an animal control officer uniform. Since it’s the X-Files that could be any sort of creature situation.
Nanjiani also might have gotten some great material for his podcast. At the end of a long day, stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson were reminiscing about their time on the show and Anderson suggested Nanjiani film it. While he adds that the video was low quality, he hopes to include it on the podcast in the near future.
In addition to returning stars Duchovny, Anderson, Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis, Nanjiani joins a growing list of new additions for Fox’s revival including Community’s Joel McHale, The Americans‘ Annet Mahendru and Flight of the Conchords alum Rhys Darby.
In other X-Files news you can watch the latest footage for the revival that we reported on here. The X-Files six episode revival is coming to Fox in January 2016.
