Well, it looks like WWE superstar John Cena is branching out more from the wrestling brand. In a report from Variety, Cena has just signed a new deal with Leftfield Entertainment. This new contract means that Cena will be creating and producing new unscripted projects for television and digital platforms. Cena will executive produce each new series with Leftfield through his production banner Hard Nocks South.
Leftfield is already behind Cena’s American Grit series on Fox.
Action related genres aren’t the only idea Cena’s had with Leftfield however, he is also looking towards real estate and construction genres. He doesn’t want to limit his audience to one gender so he is looking for ideas that appeal to both male and female viewers.
When speaking about his new deal with Leftfield, Cena had this to say in regards to how he approaches new projects,
“Whether I’m in the ring for WWE or on a TV or film set, I approach all of my work the same way — with focus, authenticity and total commitment. I’m eager to bring that same work ethic to the team at Leftfield, and to create new kinds of programming that can inspire and push people to be their best. I’m living proof of what you can accomplish when that happens.”
Speaking of Cena from Leftfield Entertainment, CEO David George praised the WWE wrestler and businessman,
“There’s nowhere you can go with John Cena without eliciting respect, pure joy and excitement from everyone he meets. Beyond his physical strength and presence, his humor, strength of character and genuine desire to give back always comes through. That’s an inspiring place from which to create entertainment content, so we’re extremely proud and happy to be in business with John.”
Over the years, Cena has worked with Vince McMahon’s WWE franchise as a babyface or “good guy” and this appears to be true when speaking of his overall personality. Cena is constantly giving back to those he meets including children, people who are sick, veterans and currently active military members.
With Cena’s personality and ability to strike a deal, perhaps we will see some kind of home makeover show that gives back to a family in need.
