Netflix’s series My Life with the Walter Boys is getting a sequel and a second book, Deadline reports. As writer Ali Novak (The Heartbreakers, Paper Hearts) confirmed to Today.com, it will be released on April 15, 2025, and be named My Return to the Walter Boys.
“I didn’t really need to find inspiration to write the sequel because I’ve always wanted to write it,” the writer explained via Deadline. “I think it’s a very fitting title because not only is Jackie returning to the Walter boys, but I’m also returning to this world after many, many years.”
According to Deadline, My Life with the Walter Boys focuses on Jackie, a 17-year-old girl whose world has been shaken by her family’s death in a tragic accident. Her uncle decided that moving to Colorado, in the house of Katherine and George Walter, was the best choice for the time being. There, she meets the 12 sons of the couple and begins having a love triangle between her and two of the brothers, Alex Walter, who is 16 years old, and Cole Walter, who is 17 years old. The book was written on the platform Wattpad by Novak when she was only 15.
Since then, the book has been published in many countries. In November 2023, Netflix released the live-action series with the same name, and it got renewed for a second season a month later because of its huge popularity with the YA audience. The series includes, according to Deadline, main lead Nikki Rodriguez (On My Block, Back To Lyla) as Jackie; Noah LaLonde (Deer Camp ’86, Asbury Park) as Cole Walter; Ashby Gentry (Mooch) as Alex Walter and Sarah Rafferty (Suits, Bones), as Katherine Walter.
According to Deadline, Novak shares that the second book “starts with Jackie returning to the Walter ranch after a summer in New York. The first part was the love triangle. The ‘will she pick Alex, or will she pick Cole?’ The second part was always supposed to be the ‘will they-won’t they’ with Cole now that she’s chosen him.”
According to Deadline, Novak has admitted that she is Team Cole in the books and the show but pointed out that the second book won’t impact the series’s second season.
“None of the content that I am currently writing will be in the second season,” she confirmed via Deadline. “They’ve just taken different directions. Still all the same characters that we love.”
