Will ‘Agents of SHIELD’ Cross Paths with ‘Avengers: Infinity Wars’?

As the Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD close the doors on season 5 and the countdown clock continues until Avengers: Infinity Wa debuts (April 27), is there a possibility the two parts of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) will cross?

Comicbook.com had a representative at WonderCon this weekend who had an opportunity to ask that question to the showrunners. While they certainly alluded to a connection, there was no definite confirmation.

Show co-runner Joss Whedon feels the Agents have a much stronger presence as part of the MCU than previously thought.  “It’s part of being one universe. In order for you to feel that their things have to echo into ours. That being said, we are our own storyline now, and just as the movies stand on their own before they unite, that’s how we try to approach it. We’re much more interested in sort of our own mythos now. So it’s not so much a tie-in as it’s a reflection, or a thematic reflection, of the movies now.”

Throughout their first 100+ episodes, the Agents have been seemingly linked to every Marvel movie release. In the beginning, it was obvious (cleaning up London after Thor: Dark World) and their fingerprint was on the story for Avengers: Age of Ultron. As of late, the show has developed more of its own platform but remains connected to the recently revived Hydra history.

If you’ve been living under an infinity stone and have not caught the Avengers: Infinity War trailer, be sure to catch it. In the meantime, tune in to Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Fridays on ABC.
