Whoopi Goldberg & Ben Silverman Sell Interracial Romantic Comedy to ABC

Ben Silverman’s Electus Studio with Whoopi Goldberg and Principato Young have sold a romantic comedy series, Iman & Andy, to ABC

Exclusively reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Iman & Andy is a thirty minute comedy about two 20-something interracial coworkers at an online magazine who have been secretly dating. They are forced to work on a relationship advice blog when the new editor-in-chief exposes their relationship.

Iman & Andy is a brilliant spec script with a specific voice and point of view. Whoopi’s involvement has already been profound and we are thrilled to expand our relationship with Principato Young Entertainment and ABC,” said Silverman.

The show is written by Angel Ruhinda along with Goldberg, Tom Leonardis (Whoop Inc.), and Jimmy Fox (Electus). Serving as executive producers are Silverman and Principato Young Entertainment. Iman & Andy could join Killer Women (Electus Studio) on ABC’s schedule if they receive a series order.

Goldberg and Leonardis have also worked together on several dozen projects including Strong Medicine (Lifetime), A Day Late and Dollar Short (Lifetime), Whoopi Goldberg Presents Moms Mabley (HBO). Together they executive produced Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Thoroughly Modern Millie as well as Whoopi … The 20th Anniversary, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Sister Act: The Musical.
