With season 2 barely underway, HBO announced Westworld will ride again for a third season. President of HBO programming Casey Bloys made the call with the following commentary, “It’s been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew. From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us.”
Executive producers Nolan and Joy were also the creators behind the series about the evolution of artificial consciousness and new life forms on Earth. Debuting in October 2016, the show garnered HBO’s most-watched titles for a new series.
The April 22 premiere of Westworld pulled out the big guns for its debut. Former Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul baddie Giancarlo Esposito put on the badass mojo once again. His character, El Lazo, was a surprise that came out of nowhere. After some behind the scenes negotiating, Esposito was able to make it happen. “So I got on the phone with Lisa Joy and her lovely husband (Jonathan Nolan), and I liked the way it sounded. And then I did it! I love Ed Harris, so sharing the screen with him is always such a treat. He’s a guy who really plays,” shared Esposito.
Tune in for Episode 2 of Westworld this Sunday on HBO.
