With just a few more months to go before the premiere of Ahsoka, new cast members keep being announced. According to Deadline, the latest addition to the cast is actor Wes Chatham (The Expanse, Hunger Games) who will star as Captain Enoch, the right-hand man for Rebels villain Admiral Thrawn, played by Lars Mikkelsen (Sherlock, The Witcher).
Ahsoka’s spinoff came after her first live-action appearance on the popular Disney+ show The Mandalorian. The character of Ahsoka Tano was first introduced in the iconic animated series Clone Wars as Anakin Skywalker’s padawan. She also appeared in the other animated show Rebels where she met other survivors of Order 66.
According to Deadline, the Ahsoka show was written by Dave Filoni (Star Wars: Resistance, Star Wars: The Bad Batch), the co-creator of Rebels. Filoni will executive produce alongside Jon Favreau (Avengers: Endgame, The Shannara Chronicles). The directors that have worked on the show include Filoni, Steph Green (Watchmen, The L Word: Generation Q), Peter Ramsey (Rise of the Guardians, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Jennifer Getzinger (Jessica Jones, Agent Carter), Geeta Patel (House of the Dragon, The Great), and Rick Famuyiwa (The Mandalorian, They Call Me Magic).
The cast of the show includes Rosario Dawson (Dopesick, Luke Cage) as Ahsoka; Ray Stevenson (Vikings, RRR) as Baylan Skoll; Natasha Liu Bordizzo (The Society, Day Shift) as Sabine Wren; Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Birds of Prey, Kate) as Hera Syndulla; Ivanna Sakhno (The Reunion, Let It Snow) as Shin Hati; Eman Esfandi (The Inspection, King Richard) as Ezra Bridger; David Tennant (Doctor Who, Good Omens) reprising his role from Clone Wars as the droid Huyang; and Mikkelsen, who is also reprising his role from Rebels as Admiral Thrawn. According to Deadline, there are rumors that Hayden Christensen (The Last Man, First Kill) is returning to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker.
While the plot for the show has been kept mostly under wraps, fans have theorized that the show will have something to do with finding Ezra Bridger, whom Ahsoka met in Rebels. The theory is supported by including characters like Admiral Thrawn, Sabine Wren, and Hera Syndulla, all characters from Rebels. The epilogue of Rebels also shows Ahsoka visiting the Ghost Crew, Hera and Sabine, after the Battle of Endor to look for Ezra and Thrawn who disappeared together.
Ahsoka is set to premiere in August of 2023 on Disney+. All seasons of Clone Wars and Rebels are available to stream on Disney+. The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett are also available on Disney+. The Star Wars movies are also available to watch on Disney+. Watch the trailer for Ahsoka below.
