It would seem that the unusual bond of the Addams Family is about to get a little more hectic in the approaching third season of Wednesday, teased by the series star Jenna Ortega (Death of Unicorn, Scream). According to Comicbook, not much is known about tye plot of season three, only that Wednesday is on a journey to turn her friend Enid, played by Emma Myers (The Minecraft Movie, Family) back into a human, in which will take her from the gloomy Nevermore Academy to the bright city of Paris. This is not her sole objective; a vision in the season two finale revealed that her aunt, Ophelia, previously presumed dead is actually alive and being held by her grandmother Hester, played by Joanna Lumley (Motherland, Corpse Bride).
Reported by Comicbook, in an interview with Esquire, Ortega was in a reflected mindset, deeply thinking on her career path, which ultimately was brought back to the third season,“this season, especially because the kids are seniors in high school now, we’re dealing with more confrontational feelings regarding family and what it means to be an adult and what you see for your life.” she said. “It’s not really until you get to the precipice of adulthood that you start to realize, Oh, God, well, maybe I’ve got to have a plan.”
According to Comicbook, Additionally, Ortega further goes into detail on how she truly has bonded with the character,”But while I’m in production, going over scripts over and over again, and I’m there all day, every day, and in every scene… yeah, there’s times where I think like her. Maybe she peeks out a bit more, here and there.”
While tensions run high going into the new season, it remains to be seen whether the ongoing conflicts will permanently fracture the Addams Family’s central relationships. At the moment, there isn’t a confirmed release date of the third season, but while audience wait, the first and second seasons of Wednesday are available to stream on Netflix.
