‘Wednesday’ Adds Four New Cast Members Just In Time To Kick Off Production Of Season Three

Variety has reported that Wednesday has added few more actors round out it’s roster of stars just as season three begins production. Chris Sarandon (The Nightmare Before Christmas The Good Wife), Noah Taylor (Big Girl’s Don’t Cry, Foundation), Oscar Morgan (A Knight Of Seven Kingdoms, Before We Forget), and Kennedy Moyer (Roofman, Task) are all set to join the cast. The news of the additions comes just after it was announced that Winona Ryder (Stranger Things, The Heathers) would guest star in the series. Eva Green  (Penny Dreadful, Casino Royale) was reported to be playing Morticia Adams’ sister in the upcoming season before the Ryder news broke.

According to Variety, the series focuses on Wednesday Adams. The rest of the family is present, but are secondary to Jenna Ortega’s (The Gallerist, Hurry Up Tomorrow) Wednesday. Christina Rice ( Buffalo 66, Casoper), who played Wednesday in the original movie, plays Marilyn Thompson on the 2022 series.

Showrunners Al Gough (Smallville, Bettlejuice Bettlejuice) and Miles Millar (Smallvillle, Spider Man 2) spoke on the return of the series, “It’s our dark delight to fling open Nevermore Academy’s gates once more as we begin production on Season Three. We thank our invincible cast and crew for their continued commitment to doom and gloom. To the fans, we appreciate your patience and ravenous online commentary – your twisted theories have inspired nightmares. This season, we welcome new students, new teachers, and excavate some long-rotting Addams Family secrets. Don’t say you weren’t warned,” via Variety.

The third season will shoot in the same location as the two prior. Dublin, Ireland, will remain the production’s home.  Tim Burton (A Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands), an executive producer and director on the series, shared his excitement to be working with new and returning faces, “I’m so excited to be back for Season 3, and it’s great to be reunited with all of the original cast. The addition of some dear friends and past collaborators of mine – Winona, Eva, Chris, Noah…makes this season extra special. I feel very lucky,” he said via Variety.

According to Variety, last we saw on Wednesday, she was on an adventure to save her friend and roommate, Enid, played by Emma Myers (A Minecraft Movie, A Good Girls Guide To Murder). Uncle Fester, played by Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live, Portlandia) accompanies Wednesday on the quest. 

Variety has reported that the show is based on characters created by Charles Addams. Gough and Milan join Burton as executive producers on the series. Other cast members include Moosa Mostafa (The Last Bus, Nativity Rocks), Georgie Farmer (Treadstone, LifeHack), Isaac Ordonez (A Wrinkle In Time, 7th & Union), Hunter Doohan (Your Honor, The Wilderness), Joy Sunday (Shithouse, Dear White People), Billie Piper (I Hare Suzie, Doctor Who), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Devs, Back In Action), debuting Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton (Criminal Record, Lord Of Misrule), with Luis Guzmán (Punch-Drunk-Love, Traffic), Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Mask Of Zorro, Chicago), and Joanna Lumley (The Wolf Of Wall Street, Corpse Bride).

According to Variety, Wednesday has been one of the most successful series in Netflix history. The second season ranks fifth all-time among English-language series. The first season is Netflix’s most-watched English-language series.
