Movies and television series alike have been forced to postpone production due to COVID-19, and today, Twitch Critical Role series has been added to the list. The Webby Awards winner show announced on their official website that they will stop live broadcasts starting March 17.
The series based on fantasy tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, follows the adventures of “The Mighty Nein” in the mysterious continent of Wildemount. The series has accumulated nearly 168 million views since its premiere in 2015, with each five-hour episode being released on YouTube after its live screening on Twitch. Critical Role announced that its finale would air March 31, available at 7:00 PM for game enthusiasts.
On his side, creator Matthew Mercer posted on Twitter that self-care was too important to ignore the issue but adopted a positive position regarding the pandemic.
While we are sad to go dark a bit, taking care at this time is too important. However, this is a good chance for many to catch up, check out our other content, rewatch, or dive into the work of other great creators until we return! We love you! <3 https://t.co/hxTv6NIZmJ
