Homeland, Showtime’s Emmy and Golden Globe award winning show, will be returning to television on October 4. Earlier in July, we reported the first look at the upcoming fifth season. But now, a full length trailer has been released (via Rolling Stone).
In an interview with Deadline, showrunner Alex Gansa talked about upcoming details for season 5, “A lot of the conversation when we were [in Washington D.C] this past January had to do with the Islamic state, the deteriorating condition in Syria and Iraq. It also had a lot to do with Russia and Vladimir Putin. And the season this year will reflect both those problem areas. And if you notice, (Season 5 location) Berlin is kind of right between both those places”.
According to Deadline, season 5 will involve Carrie Mathison “struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the ‘war on terror,’ Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm”.
In case you missed it, here is the very first look for Homeland:
The fifth season takes place two years after the fourth season in Berlin, Germany. Homeland shooting in Germany for season 5 will mark the first time an American series has been shot entirely in Germany (via Rolling Stone). Alongside Claire Danes, the show stars Mandy Patinkin, F. Murray Abraham, Sebastian Koch, Sarah Sokolovic, Alexander Fehling and Miranda Otto. Homeland is nominated for five Emmys this year.
Watch the intense and gripping new look into season 5:
