Two original series, Días de Gallos and Bunker, have been announced by WarnerMedia Latin America, their first original Latin American productions for HBO Max, according to Variety. Días de Gallos is set to be a rap battle show from Argentina, and Bunker is a “half-hour acid comedy” from Mexico.
Singer-actor Angela Torres (Solamenta Vos), Tomas Wicz (Signos: Under the Sign of Vengeance) and freestyle performer Ecko are the stars of Días de Gallos, according to Variety. The show will also feature other rappers, in addition to drag artist The Queen.
Wicz said the show will change television and claimed the show is needed.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that the show will change the way that young people are portrayed on TV,” Wicz said, according to Variety. “The characters on the show are very real, diverse and necessary.”
Bunker stars Bruno Bichir (Perfectos Desconocidos) as “a father who has lost the respect of his wife and children and only finds peace of mind retreating to an old fallout shelter in his home’s basement,” according to Variety. In his role, Bichir teams up with Russian and Korean scientists to work together while the world falls apart.
Victor Oliveira and Miguel Rodarte, two other famous Mexican actors, are also in the series, according to Variety.
Oliveira said Bunker is “a funny story about loyalty, family and lots of action,” according to Variety.
WarnerMedia announced Thursday that HBO Max will become available in 39 regions in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to Variety. This rollout is set to be the streamer’s first outside of the United States.
Along with the announcement of the series, WarnerMedia Latin America said they intend to produce a wide variety of content, both scripted and not, including films, children’s programs and more series, according to Variety.
