Veronica Mars Movie Rounds Out Casting, Begins Filming

Ryan Hansen and Krysten Ritter are the final two cast members to join the Veronica Mars movie, creator Rob Thomas announced last week. Reprising their respective roles as Dick Casablancas and Gia Goodman, they join a host of others who will be returning for the fan-funded motion picture.

Since working on Veronica Mars, Hansen has re-teamed with Thomas for the Starz series Party Down and has also appeared on 2 Broke Girls. Ritter is perhaps best known for her roles on Breaking Bad and Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23.

Hansen’s return was first hinted at by his appearance in the video that announced the Veronica Mars Kickstarter project. He offered video of his own to exhibit his excitement about officially returning for the film, complete with a special guest appearance at the end. Ritter punctuated her own message with multiple exclamation points to display her enthusiasm, explaining, “Veronica Mars has a special place in my heart because it was my first big acting job (!!!!!!).”

With these two alumni to round out the cast, filming began Monday in Los Angeles. Both Kristen Bell and Rob Thomas tweeted photos to commemorate the first day on set, and it seems that fans can expect many more updates as the film comes together over the next few months.
