Vera Herbert, who is the writer and producer of NBC’s award-winning show, This Is Us, has signed with the Gersh Agency, per Deadline. Gersh boasts multiple noteworthy clients in Hollywood.
Herbert graduated in screenwriting from the University North Carolina School of the Arts in 2011 and less than six years later, she became successful as a writer for This Is Us. Her success is especially significant considering her relative obscurity before she started working on the show. In 2012 and 2013, she wrote two episodes for MTV’s Awkward, starring Ashley Rickards (Mandy, Struck by Lightning, Sassy Pants) and Beau Mirchoff (I Am Number Four, Scary Movie 4, Flatliners). Other than that, Herbert was not widely known for anything else before writing for This Is Us. Signing with the Gersh Agency allows Herbert to be seen to have the same caliber of talent that many other clients of Gersh have.
Gersh Agency is a talent agency based in both Beverly Hills and New York. Some of the clients that they have signed include Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga), J.K. Simmons (Whiplash, La La Land), Patricia Arquette (True Romance, Boyhood), Adam Driver (Marriage Story, Star Wars), Tobey Maguire (Spiderman, The Great Gatsby), Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained, Ray), and Dave Chappelle (Chappelle’s Show). To retain exclusivity, Gersh only approaches talent themselves, and does not allow “unsolicited materials” to be sent to them (Gersh). Their prospective clients can only be approached first by the agency before being signed on, which gives a lot of credibility to the scale and significance of Vera Herbert’s talent.
Herbert is now a part of the long list of Hollywood elite that have signed with Gersh, suggesting that she will be a successful writer for many years to come.
