According to The Hollywood Reporter, a sports-focused streaming service coming jointly from Disney, Warner Brothers, and Fox has received a new logo and name: Venu Sports. The service is expected to stream live channels, including ESPN, Fox, ABC, TBS, and TNT. It is also expected to be available standalone or as a bundle with ESPN+, Hulu, and Max. No price has been set yet.
The CEO of Venu Sports, Pete Distad, had this to say: “We are excited to officially introduce Venu Sports, a brand that we feel captures the spirit of an all-new streaming home where sports fans outside of the traditional pay TV eco-system can experience an incredible collection of live sports, all in one place. As preparations for the platform continue to accelerate, we are singularly focused on delivering a best-in-class product for our target audience, built from the ground up using the latest technologies to engage and entertain discerning sports fans wanting one-stop access to live games.”
Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, called the agreement “an important step forward for the media business.”
The yet-to-be-rolled-out streaming service has also launched a website, Venu.com. Along with several moving graphics, the website teases the service with a quick description: “Welcome to the future home of sports streaming. Venu will bring the most sought-after live sports from the top leagues and teams, together in one place. All in a new app built from the ground up for sports fans.”
While the service was announced in February, the agreement between Disney, Fox, and Warner Brothers hasn’t been finalized yet. The service also needs to get regulatory approval. As such, a disclaimer at the bottom reads: “Launch is conditional on receiving regulatory approval and is expected for Fall 2024. This site is owned and operated by a subsidiary of Fox Corporation.”
The streaming service is expected to be launched before the NFL season.
