USA’s ‘Shooter’ Being Shopped by Paramount Television for Season 4 After Season 3 Cancellation

USA has decided not to order a season 4 of Shooter and is shopping the show with the idea that it may go from Paramount Television to its related network at Paramount Network. However, nothing is set and it has also been reported that talks have stalled.

When Shooter premiered in 2016 which was a surprise hit. Though not a critic favorite, Shooter was one of the best-watched shows especially in middle America. However, season 3 saw a huge drop from Season 2, being the least watched show on USA for 18-49-year-olds. On season 3, Shooter had 471,000 viewers in the 18-49 demo with 1.506 million total viewers.

Bob Lee Swagger, the titular character of Shooter, a respected and decorated war veteran is brought back out of retirement to stop a plan kill the President. His ex-commanding officer, Isaac Johnson questions him for his knowledge about these kinds of operations, it becomes clear that Swagger and his family are in danger as Swagger has been framed for the crime.

Shooter which stars Ryan Phillippe as Bob Lee Swagger and Omar Epps as Isaac Johnson is based on the well-regarded book Point of Impact written by Stephen Hunter. There is also a Paramount film, Shooter, that came out in 2007. Season 3 is based on the second book of the series titled Black Light. In this story, Bob Lee fights to finish and leave the events of season 2 behind whilst an enemy comes out of the woodwork regarding the death of Bob’s father, Earl. Bob Lee is left to deal with the conspiracy that has ripped up his personal life.

The executive producers of the series are Mark Wahlberg of Closest to the Hole Productions, Stephen Levinson of Leverage Entertainment and Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The show’s EP and Showrunner is John Hlavin. Co-stars of Shooter include Shantel VanSanten, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and Eddie McClintock.
