USA Network and Syfy Renew ‘Chucky’ for Third Season

According to Deadline, both the USA Network and Syfy have renewed the hit horror comedy series, Chucky for third season. The second season of Chucky premiered back in October of 2022 to commercial success and critical acclaim, as written by Deadline, the NBCU confirmed that the series ranked as a top ten drama in the 18-49 age demographic.

For those not in the know, Chucky is a spin-off show based on the Child’s Play film franchise and serves as a direct sequel to Cult of Chucky, the seventh installment in the film series. The show is set four years after the events of Cult of Chucky and follows fourteen-year old Jake Wheeler, played by Zackary Arthur (The 5th Wave, Mom and Dad), a young boy from Hackensack, New Jersey, coming to grips with his sexuality who finds the titular killer doll, Chucky, in a yard sale and becomes the bite-sized serial killer’s unwitting accomplice while attempting to seek revenge against the bullies who make his day to day life in Hackensack a living hell. According to Deadline, when talking about the upcoming season of Chucky, Mancini said, “The cast and crew of Chucky would like to thank fans and critics alike for their overwhelming response to season two, which we’re delighted to announce has spurred the official greenlight on season three…many thanks to our partners at SYFY, USA, and UCP for helping us keep Chucky busy. See you in 2023 for what Chucky himself promises will be his scariest season ever.”

Alongside Arthur, the cast of Chucky includes the acting talents of stars such as Jennifer Tilly (Family Guy, Monsters at Work), Brad Dourif (the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Deadwood), and Rosemary Dunsmore (The Baby Formula, Orphan Black). Chucky comes from creator and executive producer Don Mancini (Hannibal, Channel Zero), he is also the creator of the Child’s Play film franchise itself.

The third season of Chucky is expected to debut sometime in 2023.
