Universal TV is Developing Stephen King’s Short Story ‘Ayana’

The adaptation of the supernatural story is currently being considered at NBC.

Universal Television is adapting Stephen King’s 2007 Ayana into a dramatic series, as noted by The Wrap. NBC is currently considering the series, and Chris Sparling (Buried) will write the pilot while Ben Haber will be the producer and Jordan Kerner (Less Than Zero, Charlotte’s Web) the executive producer.

Ayana was originally published in 2007 and in November 2008, it was included in the collection titled Just After Sunset. The story is set in 1982 and there is a narrator who tells how a blind seven-year-old girl named Ayana who has miraculous powers.

This is not the first story from Stephen King adapted for the small screen. Currently, CBS is working on the second season of Under the Dome which is based on the book with the same name published in 2009.
