The Poppy Montgomery drama, Unforgettable, will join A&E’s network after being canceled twice on CBS.
A&E will be reviving the show for its fourth season consisting of 13 episodes. After CBS canceled the show twice, A&E is bringing it back from Sony Pictures Television.
This series is about a female detective played by Poppy Montgomery (Magic Beyond Words: The JK Rowling Story) . Montgomery’s character remembers everything except the day her sister was murdered. After the show’s freshman run on CBS, it was canceled. It then returned to CBS months later for a summer run. Unforgettable excelled during a period of time in which rating expectations were quite low. Despite the shows success in the summer, CBS canceled it for a second time in October due to rising competition as their network expanded.
Although CBS didn’t find as much success from the show as they originally hoped, A&E is staying optimistic. Unforgettable will add to A&E’s original programming, including Bates Motel and The Returned (Carlton Cuse).
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the addition of Unforgettable to A&E is coming at the same time as the cancellation of the network’s Longmire (Robert Taylor and Katee Sackhoff). Longmire, Warner Bros. Television entry, has recently been revived on Netflix.
For Sony Pictures Television, the renewal of Unforgettable is sure sign of the studio’s determination to limit show cancellations.
