It would seems that highly acclaimed adventuring party, The Mighty Nein are returning for another adventure, but this time in book form. According to mxdwn, the series is heavily based on Critical Role’s second campaign focusing on a rag tag team of outcast, misfits and criminals, working together to stop an a catastrophe surrounding a powerful artifact known as the Luxon Beacon. The finale of the animated series left the group’s attempt of retrieving the artifact going sideway, leading to a confrontation in the sewers with Kree forces, who dealt by Yasha, voiced by Ashely Johnson (Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Infinity Train), who when touch the artifact snap out of her control and ask the team for help.
The novel is named Critical Role: The Mighty Nein—Children of Empire, which is a sequel to the campaign and continues where tghe team’s greatest adventures have seemingly come to an end with the cloven crystals safely hidden and Uk’otoa once again imrpisoned, the team enjoyed they well earned retirement
The plot of the novel focus on the partnership of Caleb Widogast, voiced by Liam O’Brien (Naruto Shippuden, Tiger & Bunny) and Beauregard Lionett, voiced by Marisha Ray (Daggerheart, Thresher), who return back to the Dwendalian Empire and the complicated history they left behind. The novel will also bridge the narrative between the Mighty Nein’s campaign and the group’s third campaign, Bells Hells.
The hardcover edition is available for preorder at $30 and will be available worldwide on November 10. It would seem that the vast world and characters Critical Role has created over the years have expanded far beyond a simple tabletop game, building a rich, interconnected universe that deeply resonates with millions of fans worldwide. Critters can rewatch the entire first season of The Mighty Nein on Prime Video, with a second season already in production.
