Last night, CBS aired its new mini-series Under the Dome, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel with the same name.
According to the New York Times, the premiere’s audience reached 13.1 million viewers, a number that is likely to grow.
The thirteen-part mini-series takes place in a small town named Chester’s Mill that is suddenly sealed off by a mysterious clear dome whose boundaries cannot be crossed. The first episode brought in largely positive reviews, showing potential to build on its already high ratings.
Entertainment Weekly explains that last night’s kick off stands as the most-watched summer debut on any network since NBC’s the Singing Bee back in 2007.
