
It would seem that there will be more chaotic adventure of the foul-mouth bear, Ted, voiced by Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, American Dad) and his best friend John, voiced by Mark Wahlberg (Uncharted, The Family Plan). According to Screenrant, it was reported that Peacock is currently in production of making an animated series, which the plot takes place 12 years after the second movie ending with Ted and John now being neighbors, they both have their own family and working stagnant jobs. Now they are traversing their challenges of their daily lives which consisting of marriage, parenting and the life as an adult.
Stated by Screenrant, the duo’s past was already explained with the the live action series back in 2024, which focused on a young John , played by Max Burkholder (The Purge, Parenthood) and Ted, who navigate the awkward perils of adolescence.
Reported by Screenrant, a trailer was released showcasing the iconic duo recreated in a similar art style to that of Family Guy. Along with Macfarlane and Wahlberg, other returning members of the Ted franchise will include Amanda Seyfried (Mean Girls, Mamma Mia!) as Sam and Jessica Barth (Get Smart, Next) as Tami-Lynn.
Seth MacFarlane addressed the fate of the live-action Ted series’ potential third season with Screenrant stating, “As of now, there are no direct plans” to continue the show. He later clarified to The Wrap that the decision came down to budget constraints: “What I kept hearing [from Peacock and Universal] was, ‘Listen, the show is really expensive to produce and there’s no way to do it at a lower cost.’ So I wrote the last scene with Max [Burkholder] walking into a gym, presumably coming out as Mark Wahlberg in the first Ted film.”
Ted:The Animated Series is scheduled to make it grand premiere on Peacock on December 17 and will consists of eight episode, with additional episodes coming in 2027. While awaiting on the animated series to be release, all seasons of the live-action Ted series are available to stream on Peacock.
