U.K. Comedian Kills Off “Misogynistic” Character After TV Series is Dropped

‘Dapper Laughs: On the Pull’ will not be renewed for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned earlier this week.

The comedy dating show’s fate was announced by U.K. broadcaster ITV, after accusations of misogyny. The star of the show revealed he would be killing off the act for good.

Character Dapper Laughs, played by Daniel O’Reilly, reportedly told BBC he would be giving up on his controversial character, stating “Dapper Laughs is gone,” and, “I’ve spoken to my family. Not only do I not want to carry on with it, I don’t want to be seen to approve of it” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The actor was set on disassociating himself from the show after the offensive views the show seemingly brought, leading to a petition signed by some 60,000 people trying to get the show off the air.

Unfortunately, this mess has caused O’Reilly to cancel his live tour. It is hard to believe such a fall could come to a show that was originally commissioned over the summer off the back of O’Reilly’s online popularity via Vine and Facebook.
