Deadline reports that two stars of the sitcom Scrubs are set to return for the revival. Judy Reyes (Devious Maids, The Circle) will return as Carla, and John C. McGinley (Point Break, Wall Street) will return as Dr. Cox. They will join Zach Braff (Garden State, Wish I Was Here) as John Dorian, also known as JD, and Donald Faison (Clueless, Remember the Titans) as Turk. The odds also look hopeful for the last two remaining stars, Ken Jenkins (Last Man Standing, Courage Under Fire) and Neil Flynn (Mean Girls, The Fugitive), to return as Bob Kelso and The Janitor, respectively.

Deadline reports that 20th Century will be producing the reboot. Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso, Shrinking) will come on board as an executive producer in tandem with Braff, Faison, and Chalke. Two writers from the original, Tim Hobert (Spin City, Community) and Aseem Batra (Animal Practice, The Cleveland Show), will take on showrunning duties in addition to executive producing. Jeff Ingold (Ted Lasso, Rush Hour) and Liza Katzer (Ted Lasso, Ban Monkey) will also join as EPs on the series, representing Lawrence’s production company, Doozer.

According to Deadline, Best Friends Turk and JD will once again work in the ER together for the first time. The world of medicine has undergone a metamorphosis, but Turk and JD’s friendship has stood the test of time.

Via Deadline, Scrubs enjoyed a seven-season run on NBC, garnering 17 Emmy nominations over that period, with two wins. Reyes won two ALMAs, American Latino Media Awards, for her work on the medical sitcom.

According to Deadline, McGinley has continued close working relationship with Lawrence. He had a series regular role on the Lawrence-created TBS sitcom Ground Floor. Reyes is currently acting in the series High Potential. The revival had to make special arrangements to accommodate her schedule. It bodes well that the network is trying hard to bring back the core cast, hopefully maintaining the Lawrence charm that has made two recent Apple TV+ hits in Ted Lasso and Shrinking.
