Stranger Things had a significant announcement at this year’s Tudum global event. Deadline reports the series announced that Linda Hamilton has joined the final season of the fantasy adventure series. Hamilton is best known for her iconic role as Sarah Conner in The Terminator film franchise, most recently portraying the character in 2019’s sequel, Terminator: Dark Fate. The announcement was accompanied by a post on the show’s Instagram page.
The popular Netflix series finished its fourth season last summer, ushering an endgame between its main characters and the Upside Down’s lieutenant, Vecna. Embracing a more horror tone, the fourth season saw a being from Eleven’s past terrorize broken people in the small town of Hawkins. One of those victims happened to be Sadie Sink’s (The Whale, Dear Zoe) Max Mayfield, who was living with survivor’s guilt over her brother Billy’s death. While Max survives, her future and that of her friends seem dim as the Mind Flayer plans a final siege upon their world.
Created by the Duffer Brothers (We All Fall Down, Hidden) – Matt and Ross – the series stars Millie Bobby Brown (Enola Holmes, Godzilla), Finn Wolfhard (Ghostbusters: Afterlife, It), Noah Schnapp (The Peanuts Movie, The Tutor), Caleb McLaughlin (Concrete Cowboys, The New Edition Story), Gaten Matarazzo (Honor Society, The Angry Birds Movie 2), Winona Ryder (The Plot Against America, Reality Bites), and David Harbour (Gran Turismo, We Have A Ghost).
According to Deadline, writing for season five is finished. The Duffers even revealed the title of the first episode, “The Crawl,” last November. However, the August 2 date to commence production has been delayed due to the writer’s strike. The season was originally slated for a 2024 release.
All four seasons of Stranger Things are available on Netflix. View the video announcement from São Paulo, Brazil below.
