Trailer Wars: ‘WandaVision’ Surpasses ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ in First-Day Views

Released on air during the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, the upcoming Marvel and Disney+ superhero series WandaVision’s first look trailer has triumphed over Avengers: Infinity War’s trailer in first-day total views, according to Screen Rant. The streaming television program will act as the next addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after production delays from the COVID-19 pandemic. The trailer for the Disney+ series amassed a total of 53 million views in the first day following the Emmy Awards while the 2018 blockbuster film’s Super Bowl trailer only managed to reach 30.9 million in its first day.

Due to the pandemic and production issues, the Marvel films that were planned to be released in 2020, including Black Widow, were pushed back to a later date in order to allow for the MCU’s box office draw. With the release of the WandaVision trailer, comic book fans eager to access some Marvel content from their favorite on-screen superheroes were satisfied and have prompted more excitement for the next phase in the MCU.

WandaVision is expected to premiere on Disney+ in December 2020 and will follow the comic book characters Wanda, portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen (Wind River, Godzilla), and Vision, portrayed by Paul Bettany (Iron Man, A Beautiful Mind), as they exist in a peculiar suburban lifestyle following the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame. Additional cast includes the likes of Kat Dennings (Thor, 2 Broke Girls), Kathryn Hahn (Step Brothers, Crossing Jordan), Teyonah Parris (Mad Men), and Randall Park (Ant-Man and the Wasp, The Interview).
