Netflix released trailer for season 5 of their animated series Voltron: Legendary Defenders. The series was retooled by Dreamworks into an action/comic twist of the fan favorite.
It appears that season 5 will address Team Voltron’s new alliance with their former nemesis Prince Lotor leaving them to question if they’re “making a deal with the devil.” At the end of season 4, Lotor was exiled and ultimately came to the rescue of the crew from Witch Hagar.
In a recent Entertainment Weekly interview, showrunners Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery addressed the teams concerns noting they are “questioning whether an alliance is even a possibility. Who really wants to go full in and trust the Galra [Empire]? There’s so much on the line if you make the wrong decision. So [the Paladins] are very hesitant.”
Voltron novices might recognize a few of the famous voices including Steven Yeun (Walking Dead) as Keith, Rhys Darby (Life in Pieces) as Coran, and Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow) as Pidge.
The VoltronOfficial Instagram account previously released the premiere date of March 2 “by accident” a few weeks ago. Until then, check out the first four seasons currently available on Netflix.
